PUR hot melt adhesive formulation (PU glue)

A hot melt formulation is typical to it’s raw material base. PolyUrethane (PUR, PU) hot melt adhesives have  typically 2 components, a polymer and an encapsulated isocyanate. Depending on these two raw materials, typical properties as tack, working temperature, temperature resistance, flexibility, cohesiveness and adherence are set. They can be improved by curing agents, tackifiers and anti oxidant chemicals.

Pur hot melt adhesives offer rapid bond by the quick cooling, but with the structural applications, by chemical crosslinking (crystallization).

Most PUR hotmelt glues are based on hydroxyl polyurethane raw materials some of these are used in thermplastic formulations as well.

Typical pur hot melts contain 2 to 5 percent isocyanate. Humidity is needed to activate the crosslinking.  In respect to thermoplastic EVA and PolyOlefine (PO)  based adhesives, these PUR hotmelts offer higher temperature performance, water and solvent resistance of the final bond.

Polyurethaen Hotmelts may be based on  low-monomer MDI polyisocyanates, MDI monomers, polyesters or polyether raw materials, as base polymer.

These aliphatic or aromatic polyisocyanates offer different technical and pricing possibilities.

Our hotmelts are used in the footwear industry, woodworking (Panel bonding, edgebanding, lamination)  packaging (food, paper, cartons), bookbinding, textile-industry and electronics.
