PUR Hot-melt Adhesives

Intercol is serving the global PUR Hot-melt Adhesives market with technical advice in application, use and maintenance. PUR hot melt adhesives gain market share against traditional manufacturing methods, as like with hot melts, production times can be reduced using hot melt adhesives, as alternative to cold-curing adhesives or mechanical fastening such as screws, nails and staples.

Intercol offers also an one-day adhesive training  in PUR Hot-melt Adhesives, handling the basics: definitions, classifications, applications and market overview; product specifications; manufacturing processes; cost structures, raw materials and so on.

The Global PUR Hot-melt Adhesives market is highly developing. With new products coming up every month, there might be a better solution available for your application..S

Increase your production performance

  • Intercol is familiar with optimizing processes in wood, converting, paper, packaing and textile industries, using waterbased, hot melt and PUR Hot-melt Adhesives
  • PUR hotmelt provide opportunities in fast setting, no stop, belt driven production processes

Example industries using hot melt adhesives

Hot melt adhesives are used in a wide range of applications, especialling in fast moving consumer goods, where the volumes are high.

Beverage Packaging

Many beer, spirits and wine manufacturers handle their own packaging Hot melt adhesives for sealing carton, solidboard or corrugated boxes. Hot melt adhesives are also perfect for fixing labels to beer and wine bottles. Because hot melt adhesives offer excellent resistance to cold temperatures and even expansion capabilities of PET Bottles, hot melt adhesives are used for bonding labels to bottles that will be refrigerated.

Packaging

Hot melt adhesives have quite a long history in the packaging industry. Already in the 1960s the first introductions were made, where up to that time, mostly waterbased, solvent based and mechanical fasteners were used. During the 1980s,  the first polyurethane (PUR) hot melts were developed. These combined the quick thermoplastic properties, bonding in secons, with a structural benefit of curing and adhering better and improving durability. Hot melt adhesive is the most common method of carton sealing, assembly and pallet stabilization used in the packaging industry.

Mattresses Manufacturing

Hot melt adhesives are used in most parts of the mattress manufacturing industry. Hot melt adhesives are used for applications like cushioning foam, joining blocks and slabs of foam around springs, spring attachment securing pillow tops, and adhering different fibers and fabrics to foam.

Hot melt adhesives are ‘greener’ adhesives compared to the traditional solvent based adhesives used

Automotive Manufacturing

Hot melts are an often seen component of the vehicle manufacturing process. Hot melt adhesives are perfect for bonding materials that are required to be flexible such as textiles and interiors. Hot melt adhesives offer internal flexibility and outsanding cohesion to products that may shrink or expand due to thermal expansion properties.

Construction

Hot melt adhesives, especially PUR hot melt adhesives are used in many aspects of the construction industry. From furnite indoor use to outdoor application such as panel bonding, example applications include window frames, insulation assembly, roofing tiles and garage doors.
